This battery is not compatible with the SONY DSC HX9V camera. Based on earlier reviews on amazon that stated that they have used this with DSC HX9V, we purchased this, however when we use this with our Sony DSC HX9V (Purchased Nov 2011), the camera initializes, then the display states "For use with compatible battery only" and the camera shuts down. Tried it multiple times, and the same thing.
It may be different for other Sony models, but does not work with the this particular model.

BEWARE
The seller will accept returns but wants to charge me return shipping. The strategy seems to be that no one will bother to pay almost 50% of the cost for return shipping. What a scam!

I just purchased a new Sony DSC-HX9V camera, and found it frustrating that I had to plug in the camera in order to charge the battery. Not very handy if you actually need to charge one battery while using another. Anyway, I was on the hunt for backup a backup battery and wall charger when I found this package.
The charger works just fine, and both batteries have been used successfully. Despite what is printed on my batteries, these are actually infoLITHIUM batteries, which tells you how many minutes you have left on the charge in the current shooting mode. Pretty handy, and valuable. Those batteries cost $50 from Sony, and are in the $30 range elsewhere. My camera did not come with an infoLITHIUM battery, so I actually use these two as my primaries, and the OEM battery last.
Someone else posted directions for the charger, but they were inaccurate for mine. I have only two LED modes on my charger (on means charging, off means no battery or charged), and the label faces OUT when properly inserted. I don't believe the other guy got it wrong, but rather that there are probably a few suppliers (likely from China) that make these things, and there is little regulation. Mine came with two batteries, the wall charger, and a 12V car adapter.
Everything works just fine. Frankly, if they start to fall apart in a year, I still feel like I got my $12 worth out of them. This is just too cheap to pass up.
